Well this one has been one of the hardest and most draining issues to put into one piece.
Since March 2011, I have been working on that issue, calling for submissions from three continents and a half – we should consider the islands lost in the middle of the Indian Ocean as a continent – trying to find as many new voices as possible – and I found out some promising ones – translating most of them and collecting them into a photograph-full issue.

Anyway, here it is and I leave it to you all and the world. Savour this box sheltering poetry, fiction and non-fiction gems.

mgv2_69 | January 2012 issue: Fifty Stars and A Maple Leaf will be in preparation as soon as October 1, 2011 when the reading period is opened again. No pieces of work sent prior to this date will be read. Guidelines will be posted on mgversion2>datura's blog in due course.

Eh bien celui-ci fut l'un des numéros les plus difficiles et les plus éreintants à mettre en place.
Depuis Mars 2011, je travaille sur ce numéro, appelant des contributions provenant de trois continents et demi - nous devrions considérer les îles perdues au milieu de l'océan Indien comme un continent - essayant de trouver autant de nouvelles voix que possible - et j'en ai découvert des plus prometteuses - traduisant la plupart des textes et les rassemblant en un numéro plein de photos.

Quoi qu'il en soit, le voici et je m'en remets à vous tous et au reste du monde. Savourez cette écrin rempli de joyaux littéraires.

Les nouveautés de juin du Chasseur abstrait

La tête chauve des mornes de Mario MALIVERT

« Une poésie humaine, émouvante, d’une violente sincérité… ». Ce sont les mots écrits par Christophe Charles à propos de l’écriture de Mario Malivert, en 1982. Ces mots sont toujours d’actualité. Avec La tête chauve des mornes, le poète capte le vécu haïtien tant dans sa précarité que dans ses soubresauts sublimes. Pour lui l’érosion des terres cultivables due au déboisement systématique symbolise l’état de faillite de son pays. Mais il veut garder l’espoir.

se noircissent en charbon de bois / une langue de fumée peigne le pic des mornes / chuchotant le cri des terres desséchées

L’ écriture d’Yves Patrick Augustin, est une quête, quête de soi dans un monde qu’on ne choisit pas.

La mémoire se mêle à la douleur, l’amour au manque.

Il nous dit l’exil dans un fracas de mots qui impose le silence.

AN INVITATION TO A SECRET POETRY GIG – CAMPAIGN TO LEGALISE POETRY

I would like to invite you to a very secret and unexpected, free, poetry gig.  It is so secret I cannot tell you where it is to be held though I can tell you that there will be a five of them in November and that they will take place in four different places and of course somewhere else.  The venues will be unexpected and very secret and the gigs will be great with some amazing guests.  There is only one way to attend and that is to get a personal invitation and a couple of free tickets from me and I will only be dishing those out to those who pick up the clues and are able to tell me where the gigs will be held.  The first clue to the first gig will be posted on my Twitter on 1st July.  Follow Poetry Kit on Twitter and pick up the clues at - https://twitter.com/thepoetrykit

the protester

whenever there is a protest
he will be there with a placard
it doesn’t matter what the protest is about
the words are always red on a white background
a picture of a quill
it started out years ago saying things like
“ban the bomb – legalise poetry”
“equality for women workers – legalise poetry”
“end apartheid – legalise poetry”
a little while ago it was
“say no to war – legalise poetry”
and recently in London
“free education – legalise poetry”


he argued that poetry was sort of illegal
people got very upset at
aiding and abetting distorted syntax
GBH on grammar
and they talk about things like
prose cut up into short lines
punctuation crimes against humanity
he wanted to know what they were frightened of
was it poetry that could be read and understood
by everyone
and maybe people having fun with it?

when he started out protesting
it was to have been “legalise pot”
but because he felt himself to be
a subversive
he added a few letters
and liked it so much he kept at
his one man campaign
he thought he might try taking it
to Bahrain
see how it went down there
he even started to prepare a placard
“free Ayat al-Gormezi - legalise poetry”
for the first time
it seemed appropriate
